This moment is here, whether I like it or not. What the moment brings is determined by my previous choices. It was determined by the path I forged into the future. The future is like reaching up and plucking an apple from a tree. Once it is plucked, I am stuck with it. Every action has consequences. Now I have to decide what to do with it.
If I eat it, there will be one stream of successive actions related to this action. If I give it to someone else, another stream of actions will ensue. And so on. Once I decide to pluck the apple from the tree, I am committed to this action. There is no going back. I cannot return the apple to the branch. An executed action is a final action. The weight of my entire future rests on every action I perform. I am living in a self-created prison with walls of executed actions surrounding me.
There are windows cut into these walls by the grace of life. My soul can escape into the freedom of unlimited space through those windows. I do not need to spend my entire life in the prison of my mind. Life itself provides me with the means to escape. I just have to make certain that I keep my mind unattached once I have found the exit into freedom.
